Scry

Description

Scry allows the caster to project their awareness into the astral, travelling unseen to observe a distant area. While in this state, the caster does not view the world physically, but instead perceives vague astral impressions shaped by movement, presence, and intent.

Within the area of effect, the caster can discern the number of people present and their general positions. Individuals appear as shifting, indistinct forms that drift and blur, making precise actions difficult to interpret. Faces and identifying features cannot be clearly seen.

If the caster has previously met a person within the area, that individual may appear more defined. In such cases, the caster can recognise them, though details remain muted and imprecise compared to direct observation.

The caster may move their astral viewpoint freely within the area, allowing them to scout layouts, note concentrations of people, and identify points of interest. The spell does not require knowledge of the area’s exact location, only a clear intent or description of the place being sought.

Limitations

Scry provides only vague, impressionistic information. Fine details, written text, and exact actions cannot be perceived. The spell cannot pass through strong wards or areas shielded against astral or divination magic.

The caster cannot interact with the environment or communicate while scrying unless to another person that is scrying. If concentration is broken, the astral projection immediately collapses.
