Sound Projection

Description

Sound Projection allows the caster to manipulate air currents and bind them with spiritual intent, causing sound to originate from a chosen point at a distance. Rather than carrying existing noise, this spell creates sound at the targeted location.

The caster may either project their own voice, making it seem as though they are speaking from that point, or generate simple noises of their choosing such as footsteps, knocks, scratching, wind, or indistinct ambient sounds. The sounds arise naturally within the environment and behave as real sound would, echoing, fading, and interacting with surrounding structures.

Projected voices retain the caster’s natural tone and inflection. The spell does not perfectly imitate other individuals unless additional magic or exceptional familiarity is involved. Sounds cannot exceed normal physical limits in volume or complexity.

Detection and Resistance

Other magi can sense Sound Projection while it is being cast or sustained, detecting the deliberate manipulation of air and spirit energies.

Non-magical individuals may resist the spell with Magic Resistance. A successful resistance causes the sound to appear distorted, distant, or obviously unnatural, potentially revealing the presence of magic.

Limitations

Sound Projection creates no physical force and cannot cause harm through volume alone. It grants no visual effects and cannot convey meaning beyond the sound itself. The spell ends immediately if concentration is broken, unless cast as a momentary effect, in which case the sound manifests briefly before dissipating.
