Specials Abilities

Backstab

Thieves receive this special ability at 5% at level 1 and gain a further 2% in this skill each time they level. A successful backstab does X6 damage, and a critical success on the backstab roll can multiply this further. To complete a Backstab attack a thief must roll their stealth against the defenders listen. If the stealth roll succeeds the thief rolls his backstab ability to see if the critical hit occurred. A failed backstab roll results in only X2 damage being inflicted.

Ambush

This ability allows a thief an advantage over an unaware opponent(s). The thief makes use of shadows, darkness and forest cover for example. If the thief successfully rolls this skill their opponents all must roll their observation at a -20% penalty to spot the ambush in addition to any cover modifiers, e.g. visibility etc. The ambush ability only helps the thief, other classes in the party do not receive this advantage. The thief starts off at 5% in this skill and gains a further 2% in it each time they level.
