Appraise Opponent is a combat awareness skill that allows a character to quickly assess the capabilities of an enemy. By observing stance, equipment, movement, and demeanor, the character can estimate an opponent’s level of experience, combat style, and potential threat.

Successful use of this skill may reveal whether an opponent is trained or untrained, physically strong or agile, cautious or aggressive, and whether they rely on martial skill, magic, or equipment. While it does not provide exact statistics, it offers valuable insight that can influence tactical decisions.

Appraise Opponent is most effective before or at the start of combat, but may also be used during a lull in battle. The accuracy of the assessment depends on the observer’s experience and the visibility of the opponent’s actions.
