Description

The lance is a long, heavy pole weapon designed for mounted combat, most commonly wielded by knights. Typically measuring three to four yards in length, it is fashioned from straight, sturdy timber cut from local trees, chosen for strength, flexibility, and resilience under impact.

When used from horseback, the lance becomes a weapon of devastating momentum. Braced beneath the arm and guided by the rider’s weight and speed, it delivers powerful, piercing strikes capable of shattering shields, unhorsing opponents, or punching through armor. Many lances taper to a hardened or metal tipped point to maximize penetration.

Beyond its role in warfare, the lance is a symbol of knighthood and martial tradition. Often painted, carved, or marked with personal colors and heraldry, each lance reflects the identity of its bearer. Simple in construction yet fearsome in use, the lance turns speed and precision into overwhelming force.
