Lip Reading is the ability to understand spoken words by carefully observing the movement of a speaker’s lips. It can only be used if the character already understands the language being spoken.
This skill is especially useful in situations where silence is required, such as covert meetings, guarded rooms, or conversations carried out across a distance. Clear visibility, good lighting, and an unobstructed view of the speaker greatly improve success.
Lip Reading requires intense focus and familiarity with speech patterns. Accents, facial hair, fast speech, or deliberate obfuscation can all make the task more difficult or unreliable.
